The Voluntary Sector plays a significant role in the development process of the country for efficient and effective public service delivery. The task of the Voluntary Action Cell in NITI Aayog is to promote partnership and voluntarism in the country. The primary functions include the preparation of policy guidelines for the voluntary sector; operationalization of the national policy on the voluntary sector, 2007; and issuance of a unique id to all NGOs/ VOs registering on the NGO Darapn Portal and maintenance of the databases, etc.
